I feel like every year, the push to decorate for Christmas is happening earlier and earlier. This year was no exception and I think the earliest I have ever decorated. Let’s just say, my kids were not into it AT ALL. But, I have to admit, it felt good to be done! One less thing to rush around and finish right at the busiest time of the year. And taking the entire weekend to enjoy the process was the best! I didn’t feel rushed at all and allowed plenty of time for the creative juices to flow. I will definitely strive to do that again next year. Two weeks before Thanksgiving doesn’t sound unreasonable….. Does it?? Let’s get to this years holiday home tour!
This year, I ditched the red bows and went with very simple wreaths for the windows, door and above the garage. I love our house in the winter! We’re able to put spotlights on it, because the mowing is done for the season. To add year-round spotlights would be so expensive. But don’t think it doesn’t cross my mind every year 🙂 ….
Painting this window box and faux window black this summer, was a good move. I love how the fresh boughs, birch branches and berries pop against this darker tone….
For several years now, this DIY sign has made an appearance on this bench and I still love it!! The letters started off red and I’ve since painted them black. Can you tell what my favorite color is yet? 🙂 …..
A couple years ago, we switched out our builder’s grade door for this much more modern front door. Best upgrade ever! Decorating the front porch with this door as it’s backdrop is always my favorite!
We live in the north and it’s quite chilly this time of year, so let’s head on inside…Where it’s nice and toasty warm…
Usually the fireplace has to compete with the sliding barn door for the focal point….
But at Christmas, it has some bigger competition….
Every year, the Mr. props our tree up with 2×4’s hidden under that warm, fuzzy blanket. With three 2×4’s stacked under each leg, it adds about 8 inches of height. Who says you have to buy a taller tree for large picture windows? Just get creative and prop it up. The poor-man’s way of decorating. 🙂 Amazon Affiliate Links Included
If you’ve been here long, you know I’ve made some big changes in our open-concept family room/dining room/foyer….Painted the shiplap black (there it is again 🙂 ); built a new console table and snatched an ugly canvas artwork from someone’s trash and turned it into something beautiful. These are just a few of the changes I made in our foyer….
But, saving the best for last, this dining room!! So many changes in here: I built a new table (plans coming soon); made changes to our existing farmhouse light, giving it more of a boho vibe; new chairs; new rug and guess what! I painted the board and batten black! Shocker! Amazon Affiliate Links Included
