We finally got our tree up! I know, we’re still in November, but I feel like everyone I know already has their tree up. So, we’re keeping up with the Jones’s and decked out our home in everything Christmas. May not have been the day after Halloween, but we got ‘er done! Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m all in on stretching the holidays out as long as possible.

I actually decided to change up the spot for the tree this year. This is a major accomplishment for this creature of habit. Every year I just don’t really love where our tree is. We always put it in the middle of our huge family room windows. And every year, I feel like it gets lost in that huge space. I’m always thinking I need something flanking it on both sides to kind of ground it or balance it. A look back to last year’s tree….

Of course, there was that one year I went a little overboard and flanked it with two other trees….

Not just one tree but three Christmas trees

That was so much fun!

But this year, we stuck to one tree and I love the spot we decided on….

Christmas Tree with chair

Of course, we didn’t go TOTALLY crazy and stuck to the same general spot.

But I love how the chair next to it, gives it that anchored feeling I was wanting. And I love how the tree makes the chair feel SO cozy!! My favorite spot-for sure!

Harley may get this spot during the day, but at night, it’s all mine! 🙂

I tend to go pretty simple on my Christmas tree. I ordered this one last year from Wayfair and worried I would quickly grow tired of the flocked look. Happy to say, I still love it! I feel like it doesn’t require as much decorating. So we lightly decked it out with ball ornaments, a few Christmas picks and some sticks, from outside, spray painted white. For my skirt, I used a white soft blanket I have on hand.

Another spot I am loving this Christmas, is our fireplace. I can remember thinking different times last winter while I was working on my fireplace makeover, “I am going to love this at Christmastime.” And I do!! Here’s a quick look at the old fireplace…

Love all of the space I have for decorating now….

Decorating Tip: stick to odd number groupings. Start with your smaller item and build up from there. For example, I started with this small tree and then used books to stack another tree a little higher and used a large vase behind both trees to add more height…

And of course, my Charlie Brown tree is always a favorite! Got this little guy from Target (the tree-haha-not the dog). 🙂

We can’t wait to welcome all of our guests for our first Holiday Open House coming up soon. With lots of great local shops, it promises to be a fun evening (If you’re in the local area and would like more information, email me for details)…

Still not sure how I’m decorating the dining room table.

Here’s a look at last year….

And here’s a peak at its current state. (Just keepin’ it real)….

Outdoor decorating still needs to happen….

We did at least take down all of the Fall decor in the picture above….

I should say, my part still needs to happen. Corey worked hard to get all of the lights strung a couple days ago. But I still need to tackle the front porch, flower box and all the other spaces I’ll be sprucing up. Kinda waiting a little bit longer, since I buy all real greenery for out there and want it to last through Christmas. Last year I jumped the gun and my wreath on my door started to die way too soon. 🙁

How different this space will look this year after our total exterior makeover this past summer! And our new front door!

For now, we are enjoying the warmth and coziness of being inside. And working like ants to get everything ready for the Holiday Open House. Here’s a sneak peak at my latest project-kitchen nook updates. I can’t wait to get those sliding barn doors hung…

How about you? Do you have your decorating done? Do you feel like it all started a lot earlier this year than usual? I guess, the upside is, I have plenty of time to study it and fill in the holes. Of course, that can be a downside too. 🙁
