Can’t believe the holidays are almost upon us. I am so ready for SNOW and cold temps! We got a little bit of the white stuff this morning but I want a bunch of it! I know, I’m crazy! But my philosophy is, if it’s going to be cold, we might as well have snow! So much prettier to look at than the dying grass and bare trees. Anyone else with me?
If you’ve been with me very long, you know that this past summer I lime washed my brick. The before pictures of our house compared to now are truly mind-blowing! I have to say, decorating for Christmas outdoors this year was so much fun! The Christmas colors are so much more conducive to gray, black and white than orange and brown. I’m telling you, you need to check out the before picture here!! (Yep! I know! It’s hard to believe, but that is the same house!!)
My front porch Christmas outdoors decor came together in early November at IKEA. I found these white trash cans (yep, that’s actually what they are 🙂 – Fancy, huh!?) And it all started to play out in my mind..what I wanted it to look like. Picked up these Christmas trees from IKEA too. Can’t beat $25 a piece! IKEA for the win again!
Toned this little guy down, from this…

Gotta love spray paint. 🙂 Also gave my lanterns (check out these easy DIY lanterns here) and this crate a fresh coat of spray paint too. Added some more greens and called it a day on the front porch….
Christmas outdoors decorating was also much more rewarding with our new front door. Just a quick look at last year’s front porch with the old door…
And this year’s front porch with the new door (Again: night and day difference!)…
So much fun to see the fruits of my work pay off from this past summer. Another add on from the warm summer days was this flower box. I have always wondered what to do with this faux window. I love it! But always felt like it needed something. Now, I feel like I can finally decorate it and draw attention to it! Loving the greens, red berry sprigs and wreath against the limewash brick and gray faux window….
Gave my barn wood Christmas sign a quick makeover too. Another super easy DIY-check it out here. The black definitely looks much better than the red with our new paint colors…
I feel like our house shines (no pun intended) at night! I may or may not circle our cul-du-sac a couple times coming home some evenings, just to take it all in 🙂 …
Professional outdoor lighting is something I would love to eventually add to our home. Industrial spotlights to light up our entire house! At Christmas, we get away with the poor man’s lighting (cheap $10 spotlights from Walmart) and it looks good. Haha!
There’s just something about Christmas outdoors at night. So stunning!
