The weekend I look forward to all year long arrived this past weekend!! Every year the Country Living Fair hits four different locations in the eastern part of the United States. Vendors from all over come & set up shop for the weekend. So much to see & choose from…vintage galore!!! Home decor, clothing, handbags, good food and much more.
My mom, dad, sister & I got to Columbus on Friday & stopped in Powell, a suburb of Columbus. It’s a quaint little town with a huge antique shop (it keeps going & going). Their prices are very reasonable. I got this gem for only $49.
(Photo bomb…Hampton, our Goldendoodle):
I think it was marked wrong, cuz even the sales lady was shocked at the price. My
plan is to paint this piece and use it in my little guys’ room as a night stand. It looks a little ugly right now. But I think once I get some paint on it, it will look great with the industrial theme of their room. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
I also picked up this barnwood door that I plan on making a sign out of.
Again, for the little boys room. Most of my shopping this weekend was for their room.
A couple of my other finds:
Can never have too many pillows. 😀
For dinner Friday night, we went to Cantina Laredo….love love love that restaurant!!! It is one of my absolute favorites. Mexican, of course, hence the name. They have the best chips, salsa & guac….mmmmm, so good!! And fabulous shrimp tacos that are so fresh. If you’re ever close by one (Chicago, Columbus, just to name a couple locations), it is a must-try. You won’t be disappointed.
On Saturday, we opened & closed the Country Living Fair….so much to see! And buy. 😀 My mom, sister & I had such a great time. We love this kind of stuff & have very similar tastes when it comes to home decor style. (My dad, on the other hand, is not into this AT ALL…so he went to the Ohio State football game). It was a win-win for all of us. 👍 Me, my sister, and yep, that’s my mom on the far right. We get asked a lot if we’re all sisters….I can only hope to look that young when I’m her age. 😊
Got some pretty good finds….and once again mostly for the little boys’ room (that’s my latest project–therefore, my main focus). The pillows were love at first sight from a booth called Farmhouse Frocks. Owned by a very sweet mother/daughter team. They had clothing, accessories & these frayed, military-styled pillows. Oh so cool!!
Also picked up this cool sign…
There were some booths that you really had to question,”Why?? Who???” Why would you try to sell this stuff? Who buys this stuff? For instance, these fair ribbons from some random person. I never knew I could sell my kids ribbons and make money. Might have to go downstairs to the storage room & dig those things out of their keepsake boxes…tucked away collecting dust. A hidden treasure–who knew?!?!
I was on a mission to find lockers for the boys’ room–mission failed😕. Surprisingly, of all the great stuff there–no lockers. Bummer! So, the search continues.
Saturday night we ate at another fabulous restaurant, Lindey’s. Italian food. In German village. Such a beautiful area of Columbus. Full of character. We sat outside in their gorgeous courtyard. Which has a picturesque, Italy feel.
It was such a fun weekend. Great shopping. Excellent food. Terrific finds. Lots of laughs & great conversations. Can’t wait to do it again next year. 😊
