Your home is a place where you rest your head, but it’s more than that. It’s a reflection of who you are, and the way you like to live.

If you decorated when you moved in and you were pleased with how it looked, but now your taste and lifestyle has evolved, it may be time for you to rethink the overall look of your home.

Entryway. Open and spacious. With long runner rug.

This can be as simple as changing up your decorating style. Or a much more involved undertaking: a full redesign of your home. If this is the route you’ve decided to go, you may not be sure it’s the right path to take.

Here are some major signs that you need to plunge ahead and do a redesign.

Functionality Is Key

If the layout of your home is no longer meeting your needs, it may be time to do something about it to make sure you’re not feeling crowded.

If you find yourself having less storage space, you might want to focus on that. Putting up more shelves may be one way to quickly squash the problem and make things a little bit more spacious.

But if the problem is bigger than that, you may want to consider doing an expansion.

Expansions are great because they tend to increase the square footage of your home which boosts its value. If you do decide to do this, you won’t have to worry that you’ll be sinking cash into something that won’t be profitable in the long run.

You’ll see a return on your investment, especially as your home appreciates over time.

Wear and Tear

There may come a time when you notice that your furnishings are looking a bit worn out. If you notice that your furniture is showing a lot of wear and tear, it may be time to take action.

Unfortunately, when furniture starts to look worn out, it can make the whole place look a bit shabby. This can leave a bad taste in your mouth, so to speak. It can also be very embarrassing.

Closet space with lots of room and very well organized.

When someone comes into your home and it’s not looking its best, this can make you feel uncomfortable.  You may even start to avoid having people over to visit. This is a sure sign it’s time for a redesign.

The Style Is Outdated

Trends come and go, there’s no escaping that, and you don’t want to make your home a slave to them. However, there are some styles that just need to go because they are too outdated to keep.

They make your home’s design feel as if it’s stuck in another decade and this can look tacky if you’re not careful. A redesign can bring your home up-to-date not just with modern trends but with new appliances, and furnishings as well.

You now know a few of the important signals that your home may be in need of a redesign. Be sure to look at your specific needs to see where you need to get started.

These tips may just be confirmation that you need to push ahead and get things looking sharper and crisper in your home.
