It was amazing to me, the outpouring of love and support we received following Corey’s accident. Our family and church were incredible! So many people helping us through meals, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, errands, yard work, childcare…the list goes on and on!! I have never seen so many people stepping up and reaching out. To this day it brings me to tears. I could not have done it without them.
But even more than that were the prayers that were going up daily…hourly. It was unbelievable how quickly the word spread about Corey. Around the world. Facebook was still kind of a new thing, but we saw firsthand what a blessing this social media app could be.
The need for prayer spread like a wildfire. It will be such a joy to see, in heaven one day, how many people were praying for us. I could literally feel the prayers. I’ve said many times, God was carrying me through that time. And I believe it was because, there was not a moment that went by that someone wasn’t praying. I believe it was constant.
All of the prayers and support were so much needed in such a critical time. To feel that love and being lifted up….I can’t even describe it. Thank you!!!!

Bittersweet story: After church on Sunday (7/10), some friends of ours brought Ty and Grayson up to the hospital to see me (at this point they weren’t seeing their daddy yet). They told me that Grayson told his Sunday School teacher, “We need to pray for my daddy, because he’s being eaten by the fishies.” Oh my, from the eyes of a 3 year old. That poor little guy. Makes me wonder, what he really thinks about all of this.
Sad Story: The patient in the room next to Corey’s was in a motorcycle accident and not expected to make it. (I was told his injury is very similar to Corey’s). But the saddest part–he has not had one visitor. Myself, along with Corey’s visitors, are praying for him.
On the other side of the spectrum, there’s you, Corey….you have had nonstop visitors and inquiries about you down at the switchboard of the hospital. A friend came up to see you today and she said when she asked them for your room number, the lady said, “Oh, I don’t even have to look that one up…we have had so many calls and visits for him.” Praise God!!! Keep the prayers coming!! Flood God’s throne with prayers!!
Another friend started a Facebook page called, “Prayers for Corey and Nicole”. Amazing how many people have already joined the group. It has been so encouraging to read their comments and know they’re praying.
My cousin had her entire guard unit (Army) STOP and pray for you, Corey.
Another friend told me she has a friend who heard our story and called her husband who is on a missions trip in Guatemala and they all (the entire bus) prayed for you together. This is going viral.
Pastor Ron said people are banging down the doors at church wanting to help us in anyway they can and wanting to know how you are.
I have been flooded with Facebook messages, text messages, etc of people wanting to help and letting us know they are praying. It has been so humbling.
A friend who manages a local Walmart in town told me yesterday, he has been in touch with other Walmart’s and they want to bring us veggie platters, water bottles and other food…for our around the clock visitors.
Oh Corey, I wish you could see and feel the love and support we have right now. We are so truly blessed!!
