Hello friends! Hope everyone had a great Fall weekend. (As you can see I’m getting this out a little later than I intended. Oops!! The week got away from me). Our family went up to Minneapolis to visit our oldest son, Auston. He’s attending a small Christian college up there. Ten hours away from home 🙁
All of our kids were on Fall Break for a few days last week, so we made a long weekend of it. Had a great time hanging out with Auston and treating him to some good food. 🙂 What every college student loves: great and FREE food!!
It was so hard to say goodbye. 🙁 Until Thanksgiving..which can’t come soon enough!!
Let’s pick up where we left off…back to my parents’ home tour…
We’ll take a look at their kitchen today…
To start this project off, my parents pulled up the old Pergo floor and put down new flooring. They carried this flooring into the dining room and family room. They wanted everything to flow and for it not to look choppy…
The brick wall (pavers) was an update they made several years ago…love the updates that never go out of style. 🙂 And actually brick walls are such a cool thing right now. You’re seeing it in a lot of the home magazines and all over Pinterest…
My sister painted the kitchen cabinets over the summer…they turned out beautifully. She did one coat of black over the original cabinets which were a darker wood. I love how the original still shows through somewhat, giving them that distressed look…
I wish you could get the full-effect of this area. My mom is a great gourmet cook and there are often enticing aromas coming from this room…when they’re not going out to eat. 🙂
Moving into the kitchen nook. (Again I was competing with the sun—sorry these pictures aren’t the best). The lighter walls give the main level such a clean look. My mom has merged rustic with a pop of industrial here and there…as seen by these galvanized metal E-A-T letters….
This light/pot rack is coveted by both my sister and me…we both love this piece!!
And one last view of the kitchen..why not…
Next time we’ll finish up with the family room, master bedroom and great outdoor space. Hope your enjoying this tour of my parents’ home. I love being here, it’s so warm and cozy…such an inviting home.
Does your mom have a knack for decorating? Has a lot of her style rubbed off onto you?
