Ah, the best time of year has finally arrived! I feel right at home in my jeans, a comfy t-shirt, and a flannel casually tied around my waist. Can you believe it’s already the middle of September? (Seriously, where did summer go? It feels like it just started!)

But now, I’m fully embracing the fall vibes. That means not only inside my home but outside too. So, welcome to my Fall Home Tour… let’s dive into all the cozy, autumn goodness!

Girl standing on a front porch.

Usually I’m reluctant to get rid of all of my summer flowers and dive into Fall planting. However, this year we took our 4th child across country and off to college.

Knowing we would be gone for several days, I left the care of my flowers in my teenage son’s hands. Big mistake! Huge! When we got home, they were all on the brink of death! :(

Wow! Did our landscaping look pitiful. And, needless to say, I couldn’t wait to change out my flowers!

This year I got all of my flowers and pumpkins at Menard’s. They had great prices on all of their mums and definitely the best prices on their designer pumpkins. One stop shopping…yes please!

Over the past couple years, my front porch has gone through some major changes. It all started with adding a new front door. Wanting the space to pop a little more, I changed the paint color of the wood planked porch from gray to black! Stunning!

And just this past summer, I completed a project I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time now. I added brick pavers to my front porch. (Look for a full tutorial on how I did this…coming soon!!)

I’m not going to lie, this was a VERY time consuming project and I can honestly say, it was not my favorite DIY. But, all of that said, the difference it made to the exterior of our home made it all worth it!!

Being absolutely in love with this new look on our front porch, I was so excited to decorate it for Fall! Rarely do I change the layout of my Fall decorating, but I usually always change the colors of my mums and even the pumpkins from year to year.

This year was no exception. I love these multi-color mums and the gorgeous designer pumpkins (as I like to call them…haha!). As I always do, I kept my ferns from the summer. It’s the perfect backdrop to the vibrant fall colors of the mums.

Changing the look of my front porch flooring warranted a new layered rug look, of course! :) I got both of these at Target. Perfect for this space.

My next big project is refinishing our front door. If you’re a newsletter subscriber, you know the dilemma I’ve had with whether to paint it or sand it down and stain it! Unfortunately, it needs some serious TLC before old man winter sets in.

Little did I know, when having this door put in, how much upkeep is involved with wood doors. Now with all the cracking and wear and tear of it, I know! It’s a lot! Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to join in on the discussion and see what I’ve decided on.

Adding flower boxes to my home provided 2 more spaces to add pops of color. Adding texture and color to any space will always create visual interest. These two easy builds are a great addition to any home:

This is the easiest window box you’ll ever build! Made completely out of dog ear fencing, it’s a beast against all the outdoor elements…

I used to have a bench under this window, but wanted something a little more substantial. The bench seemed to get lost in the space.

But this planter box pops against our limewash brick!

Planter with Sedum in it.

This picture actually doesn’t do these Sedum justice at all! I went back and forth on what to plant in this box. My one non-negotiable: it had to be a perennial. I didn’t want to have to plant something new every year–summer & fall.

My mom suggested Sedum and I was sold! I love how it gives a pop of green all summer long. And then in the Fall, it’s a vibrant rusty pink color. They are absolutely gorgeous! And every year they are more filled out than the previous year.

Such a statement!

Adding more mums and pumpkins to the garage area of the house helps to tie it all together. I love how the vibrant colors of the mums create a welcoming feel the moment you pull into the driveway.

Thank you for joining me on my Fall home tour. It’s amazing how just a few small additions can transform the whole look and make the exterior feel as warm and inviting as the inside.

Designer Tip: When It Might Be Time to Bring in Help

If you’re working on your home and things still don’t feel quite right, you’re not alone. Many of our clients start exactly where you are now. They’ve gathered ideas, saved inspiration photos, and maybe even purchased a few pieces, but the space still doesn’t feel cohesive. That’s often the moment when having a designer can make all the difference. We help homeowners create a clear plan so every decision works together. From layout and furniture placement to finishes and lighting, the goal is a space that feels thoughtful, comfortable, and complete.
