Affordable Decor Ideas for Living Room

Let’s start with the living room because first impression matters. Here are some of the ideas that you can incorporate for redesigning your living room on a budget:

  • Add a Little Green

Instead of painting your room green, choose a lighter shade and add more plants. Small plants tend to uplift the overall appeal of your living room, giving a garden-like vibe. Peace lilies, spider plants, jade, etc. are some common houseplants that are easy to care for.

  • Adjust Lighting

Add side-table lamps or rope lighting for ceiling in a warmer shade that would complement your living room space. You can even get smart lighting as it can easily be controlled via your phone and Wi-Fi.

  • Add a Console Table

A console table refines the space. Making it easy to hide wiring behind the cabinet, along with all the other things. Adding aesthetic appeal, a console table can become the focal point in the room.

  • Modifying Furniture Layout

Make small changes to your furniture layout. One way of doing this is by changing the position of your existing furniture. However, for a bigger impact, you may want to add some new furniture pieces.

An easy way of doing this on a tight budget is by visiting a local thrift store, browsing online shops such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, or exploring yard sales. Yes, there may be some hassle with thrift store furniture but with a little elbow grease, it’ll be good as new.

  • Add a Fresh Coat

Try refreshing the walls of your living room, and you’ll definitely see the difference. A new coat of paint brightens up the space and gives more room to try something new. You can choose a new color of your liking or maybe pick an inspiration, giving you the chance to finally create the living room you’ve wanted.

Affordable Decor Ideas for Bedrooms

Your bedroom needs to provide the comfort that you’ve been yearning for the entire day. True, home decor and renovation take time and money but that doesn’t mean your bedroom should look dreadful. That’s why I’m sharing some affordable decor ideas for that below:

  • Make a Photo Wall

Whether you want to add family photos or murals of your liking, a dedicated photo wall will certainly uplift the vibe. Entering the room, you should feel content and that’s what this photo wall will do for you.

You can select a corner, add a fresh coat of paint, and dedicate the whole space just for photos and murals. Maybe you’ll start a hobby of creating your own painting and keep track of how you progress. Here’s a great DIY wall art canvas to start with.

  • Upgrade Your Storage

It’s all about decluttering as much as you can and creating a spacious environment for your bedroom.

You can find a wardrobe cabinet from yard sales or online marketplaces easily. Get one with a repaint touch, and adjust it in your room to minimize space occupancy by various items. Doing this will improve space in your room, giving you the opportunity to add more items easily.

  • Add Bedside Decor

Bedside decor includes small lamps for lighting or dried plants for aesthetics. Both elements are inviting and give a unique outlook to your space.

Adding smart lighting is another option that you can explore when installing lighting in your bedroom. While they can be a little more expensive, look for some in yard sales or Craigslist to save some money.

  • Install Rugs and Carpets

Rugs and carpets help turn a boring room into a more inviting space. But before choosing one, make sure that the colors actually resonate with the room. Even if you’re creating a sharp contrast, ensure that the placement complements the space.

For choosing the right one, get multiple small samples and place them near the wall of your room. Or, you can simply choose a dark/light contrast and go for it.

  • Install Decorative Shelves

Rather than buying new ones, you can DIY and make new shelves. One way of doing this is tying ropes with planks and then installing them. Another idea is adding birch shelves by installing wood pieces and arranging them in a shelf design.

Apart from this, if you’ve got spare pipes, then install a plank between them, screw them together, and hang them on the wall to create another unique shelf. If you’re interested in buying shelves online, you can look for budget bookshelves that will surely fulfill your needs.

  • Get New Pillows

From cool and funny pillows available online to stuffing the existing ones with more volume, you can get throw pillows for your bedroom at affordable rates.

  • Make a Wall Art

Are your kids into doodling? Do you enjoy custom painting? If so, then creating wall art will give you an opportunity to explore this creativity. Plus, a wall art also adds an attractive look to your room.

All you need is some stationery for creating wall art. You can choose a corner or an entire section of the room, create small frames, and begin doodling. Use different colors or better, use a pencil or charcoal stick to create a design, and then add colors to it. Let your imagination lead the way!

Affordable Decor Ideas for Kitchen

Bedroom and living room decor is one thing, but designing your kitchen speaks for itself! We haven’t forgotten affordable tips for renovating your kitchen. Check them out below:

  • Get a Fabric Covering

Shades and blinds are cool but get a fabric covering for your kitchen windows instead as these are more aesthetic. Not only that, but these create a better contrast with your overall design. Speaking of which, you can also get customized fabrics of your liking.

Plus, since you’re setting up a fabric on windows, it’ll be easier to remove and clean these, which means no more dirty shades in your kitchen.

  • Get a Cabinet Hardware Replacement

If you’re looking for a quick remodeling idea of your kitchen, then get started with cabinet hardware replacements. You can replace the knobs as you like, add a little glass window, or do other stuff.

If you are familiar with DIY-ing cabinet hardware, go for it. Otherwise, get a professional to do the job for you. It may cost a little but you’ll get the desired finish.

  • Install Open Shelves

Instead of remodeling the cabinets, have you thought about open shelves? Yes, open shelves are really great when it comes to modernizing your kitchen. And, it’s actually a budget friendly project.

  • Add a Statement Backsplash

A statement backsplash would certainly do the trick and help you remodel your kitchen affordably. You don’t need to observe high-end details when choosing one; just ensure that you’re choosing it according to the design style of your kitchen.

  • Install Decorative Lighting

Lighting does make a difference if installed correctly.

Pendant lights, under cabinet lights, etc. are some ideas to get started with. You can install these in a way that you get ample lighting in your kitchen while getting warm vibes for those long and deep conversations.

  • DIY Artwork

Who says artwork should remain only in bedrooms? We’ve seen cafés and restaurants filling walls with creative artwork to engage in aesthetic vibes and people love them. So why not do the same with your kitchen?

  • Color Infusions

Ready to make a bold statement with your kitchen outlook? Painting sharp contrasts will definitely leave visitors in awe over how amazing your kitchen looks. You can paint the doors, the cabinets, the shelves, etc. based on the design you’re looking for.

Remodeling can be a hassle especially if you are on a tight budget. But if you’re considering it, then the aforementioned ideas are perfect for decorating when money is tight. So, get started and rejuvenate your home with a fresh look.
