Fall Home Tour
Ahhhhh! My favorite time of year! I’m most comfortable in a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a flannel tied around my waist. With today being, literally the first day of September, (What happened to summer?…feels like it was just beginning yesterday) I’m ready to jump into fall. And that includes in my home too. More specifically for this post, outside my home. Welcome to my Fall Home Tour….
While I haven’t finished my outdoor decorating completely, I wanted to share my vision for this year with you. Just in case you might want to duplicate some of my ideas. Of course the mums have been on sale, at my local big box store, since the first day of August. While I love Fall (did I mention that?), mums on August 1st seems a little too early for me.
Living in northern Indiana, I feel like I just planted all of my summer flowers and are not quite ready to give them up just yet. But come September 1st…Here we are! Yep! I’m all in! Give me all the mums!!! And pumpkins too….
So let’s hop into my Fall home tour. Decorating my front porch for Fall is my absolute favorite. I will say though, transporting corn shocks home every Fall has me a bit on edge. My anxiety goes through the roof, as visions of spiders crawling all over my car send me in an all-out panic mode. I don’t care how much good they do, I don’t like them! But my front porch would not be complete without these giant corn stalks. So, every year I face my fears and bring some home….
The hardest part about switching over to Fall outdoor decor, is letting go of my summer flowers. By this time of year, they have taken off and are so vibrant and full of life. It’s so hard to rip them out and replace them with fall flowers. It actually makes me sad. 🙁
But it is a must and the transformation is always worth it….
Last year, I got my mums from a local Amish farm and had high hopes for them. While they were so big and had lots of buds ready to bloom, they never really took off. For most of the season, they looked like this…
Not really the look I was going for. 🙁 It was so disappointing. Lesson learned: make sure at least half of the buds have bloomed. Never assume that they will. Because sometimes, they don’t.
My mission this year: find these mums again…
Aren’t they beautiful!? Not sure I’ll have the same luck finding them this year at Home Depot. But we shall see.
As you can see from all of my pictures, I like to stay pretty neutral with my pumpkins. Maybe I’ll go a little crazy this year and bring in some orange. Haha! Once again, we shall see.
I hope you enjoyed my Fall Home Tour! Be sure to come back next week for more great DIY tutorials. Next week is all about my pantry makeover! From boring pantry to Butler’s Pantry! So good!
