Furniture Build Projects
A little backstory: Repurpose Life started out as a way to tell my story in sharing our lives following my husband’s traumatic brain injury from a wakeboarding accident. In addition to this, I shared my new found passion (and therapy for me at the time) for woodworking. Furniture building became my getaway from reality. I loved working out in the garage and focusing on something other than tragedy at that time. Creating something new that I had some control over was so helpful to me back in those days. Fast forward 10 years later and here I am still building furniture…but not as an escape, but rather something I absolutely love! I am so grateful God has walked us through this journey every step of the way. And thankful for this newfound hobby he has blessed me with in the process.
Continuing this Top Projects Series of 2021, let’s take a look at what furniture build projects were trending the most for Repurpose Life….
2021 started out with a full makeover to my master bedroom. Since moving into our house 14 years ago, I have always wanted a grown-up bedroom. That dream finally became a reality at the beginning of this year! Along with that makeover came several builds including: a new king-size mid-century modern platform bed; nightstands to flank both sides of the bed; a sliding frosted glass modern door to separate our bathroom from our bedroom; AND, saving the best for last, a new fireplace!! Yep! I built a fireplace! Can I just say, everyone needs a fireplace in their master bedroom! It is heavenly!
By the time, I wrapped up the master bedroom, it was time to focus on the outside. Spring would be here before we know it and I had big plans for our pergola space this year! For the longest time, it’s been kinda blah! But this year it went to WOW! And somewhere we actually enjoyed hanging out. Adding a modern outdoor sofa and new modern outdoor chairs to match along with a McGee and Co coffee table dupe were the cozy touches this space needed….
Oh and I also added this fun fluted side table. Surprisingly, it held up well outside in the elements. Definitely a build I would like to add to the inside of my house. Love the design of this little guy…
My family room/dining room/foyer (open concept) space have been a work in progress all year long. Many of the builds I added to this room I still need to add to the blog. With that said, new dining room table build coming soon! But for now, this console table with hemp I built for my foyer is so good! This tiny alcove space needed something tall and narrow. After searching for months for something I liked, I finally came up with this idea and built it in my garage and living room over the course of a couple days. Easy-peasy!
Can’t wait to see what fun and new furniture build projects 2022 holds.
Until next week,
Happy Building, Friend!!
