Google pretty much any home decor trends coming in 2023 and you’ll find articles that say they’re “in” and articles that say they’re “out.” What does this mean? It’s all in the eye of the beholder.
And once again, goes back to style. Does it flow with the style of your home? That is to say, if your home has a style. Stay tuned for my next series coming in February. All about finding the style of your home.
Home decor trends won’t break the bank in the way that a total revamping of your kitchen will. So, venturing outside the look of timelessness and more on trend can be fun and attainable.
Sometimes we just have to have that new “in” chair or wall art. And although the trend will most likely be out in 3-5 years, it’s ok, because the price-point is easier to acquire.
7 Top Home Decor Trends for 2023
Top Home Decor Trends #1: Tactile textures
The Organic Modern design trend continues into 2023. Fluted wood, boucle, curvy and unique furniture shapes will all continue to see an uptick in popularity throughout the next year. And I don’t know about you, but that makes me happy. I could go crazy with boucle. That texture! Amazing!
Top Home Decor Trends #2: Organic materials
Playing off of trend #1, organic materials and earth tones inspired by nature continue to cause quite the stir moving into 2023.
The design world can’t get enough of these warm wood tones, and mossy greens.
While the last few years have seen a lot of lighter pale wood tones, darker wood tones are making a comeback. We’ll see these 1970’s wood tones in flooring, furniture, cabinetry, and fabric. Look for bamboo, cork, sisal (similar to jute) to hit the stage in 2023.
Home Decor Trend #3: Organic pottery
I love how all of these trends tie into one another so perfectly. And this trend does not disappoint. Big vessels and planters that look 600 years old will be all the rage in 2023. Shop one of my favorites from Amazon below.

Trend #4: Muted pillows
The pop of color pillows against subdued toned couches will be a dated look in 2023. People are looking to better integrate their pillows with the rest of their earth tones color palette. Faux fur and velvet pillows in muted tones exude a warm and cozy feel.
Trend #5: Abstract art
Have you tried your hand at your own canvas art yet? There is something so satisfying about transforming an old ugly canvas into a work of art.
I have a full tutorial on how I took a canvas from someone’s trashcan and turned it into a $600 Crate & Barrel dupe. Here’s the link to make your own.
Abstract, textured art canvases are here to stay. So, don’t throw away those old ugly canvases.
Trend #6: Antique wall art
Along with abstract art, antique wall art in chunky gilded frames are big in 2023. But no need to break the bank on an old antique piece, you can find the same look at thrift stores and even Amazon for much more affordable prices.
Get the look with this beautiful piece I found at Target. And those gilded frames? Once again, check out Goodwill or your local thrift shop. If the gold is a bit too shiny for you, simply rub it down with some steel wool and watch the gold shade tone down.
Top Home Decor Trends #7: Coffee bars
Not a coffee drinker? How about a hot chocolate bar? Now we’re speaking my language. Coffee bars are not just for the kitchen anymore.
People are leaning towards the convenience of having these stations in their family room, theater room, home office and even their bedroom.
