What if you could save a lot of money and make all of your master bedroom furniture? What if it rivaled the bedroom furniture you were eyeing online? I did just that a little over a year ago and I’m happy to say, it’s all still standing. HAHA!! It’s actually probably better quality than what I could have purchased in the store. And I get to say, I built that!! Not many people can say that! 🙂 But now you can too! Today, I’m sharing all of my master bedroom furniture tutorials. Well, in actuality, 4 furniture builds and 1 wall treatment.
Ever since we moved into our house 14 years ago, I have wanted a master bedroom that felt more like a retreat and less like a drab, dark, low-class motel room. Still holding onto furniture we had bought not long after we got married 25 years ago, it was time for a change….
First things first…a new bed was in order. But beds are expensive! So, just like I’ve grown accustomed to saying about most furniture–I can build that! And I did! Check out this King size bed tutorial here!
Next up, nightstands! Keeping with the mid-century modern bed I just built, I liked this design for the nightstands….
Those drawers roll like butter! I thought they would be very hard to build and would require hardware…but nope! I found a way around the hardware and love how easy these open and close. And once again-so easy to build! Here’s the nightstand plans!!
Brainstorming how I could make a standing mirror not only serve the function of a mirror, but also a substantial furniture piece, I came up with this design…
So fun to DIY this beautiful statement piece. Check out the plans for the mirror here!
Who doesn’t love a fireplace in their bedroom!? It sounded too good to be true! But again, I knew it was possible. So off to Amazon I went to find an electric fireplace and then to the drawing board to sketch out a surround for it. Believe me when I say, this was not a hard build. And the reward of now having a dreamy fireplace in my bedroom…so worth it!! Want to build one for your room? Check out the plans here!
Want to buy the same electric fireplace I bought? Here’s the link! (Amazon Affiliate Link Included)
As if our beautiful new bed needed to stand out anymore, I decided to add an accent wall behind the headboard! Love the color and the style of this MCM slatted wall treatment! It’s perfect! Grab the plans here!
With these 5 bedroom furniture builds, you can easily transform your master bedroom into the retreat you desire!
Be sure to check back next week to see how I styled my new floating shelves.
